Strawberry Shortcake Garden Fun Doll, 2006

Description

This four-inch tall doll is wearing a hat, white shoes, a red skirt, a white shirt with a pink strawberry on the front and a broad-brimmed pink hat. She came with a wheelbarrow which was not donated to the Museum.

History

In 2008, Ann Tucker gave 30 items, which consisted of a part of her toy collection to the Museum. Tucker collected figures from cereal boxes, fast food joints, and she bought some of them at a greeting card store. Ann Tucker collected this 2006 giveaway toy. This McDonald’s promotional toy was the first scented Happy Meal giveaway.

Strawberry Shortcake was first drawn by an American Greeting cards illustrator in 1977. Since then, there have been dolls, cartoons, and clothing featuring the scented Strawberry and her friends. And Strawberry herself has been through a number of redesigns, updating her old-fashioned look for a new generation of consumers.
