[ARCHIVED] Dino-Mighty Fun at Cape Fear Museum!

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. — Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is inviting the community to Dino-Mighty Day! Journey back in time to explore dinosaurs, fossils and more! This event is fun for kids of all ages and adult participation is required. It is made possible by a generous grant from International Paper. Some of the educational stations and activities at this FREE EVENT will include:

  • Dig for fossils to take home
  • Explore the Museum on a dinosaur scavenger hunt
  • Create a dino playscape
  • Participate in a T-Rex basketball challenge
  • Build a Pterosaur and fly it into a nest
  • Have fun creating dinosaur crafts & masks 
  • Make dino trail mix to eat
  • Take pictures at the selfie station
  • And more!

While visiting, experience the traveling exhibition Dinosaurs Take Flight. It combines original artwork with fossils, replica skeletons, hands-on activities and interactive media to tell the amazing story of the evolution of flight.  

“We know our visitors love dinosaurs,” roared education manager Amy Thornton, “this FREE EVENT will be a day of prehistoric fun for the whole family and we are grateful to our friends at International Paper for making it possible.”

Cape Fear Museum of History and Science, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is located at 814 Market Street and is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Standard admission prices are $8 for adults; $7 for seniors, students and military with valid ID; $5 for children 6-17; and free for children 5 and under and for museum members. New Hanover County residents’ free day is the first Sunday of each month. Cape Fear Museum is also a proud partner of Museums for All and offers free admission to SNAP benefit recipients when they present an EBT card. More information: www.capefearmuseum.com.
