NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – With the 27th annual Art in the Arboretum continuing to take shape, community partners throughout New Hanover County are providing resources to help the event reach a wide audience.

The longstanding fundraiser, which is set to start with the Sip, Savor & Shop launch party and preview sale on September 30 and the public sale October 1-2, will raise money to support local artists who are taking part in the show as well as the Friends of the Arboretum nonprofit and the Wilmington Art Association.

“Art in the Arboretum has always been such a fun event because it’s an amazing example of local supporting local, which is truly special,” Ranalli said. “The art itself is so important, but we want the community to know there are opportunities during the weekend for everyone to get involved, learn and have fun.”

Approximately 150 artists will have their work for sale throughout two traditional galleries (the Arboretum Gallery in the Education Center and the Greenhouse Gallery), along with festival booths and artist tent setups throughout the complex.

Additionally, the Children’s Museum will have art and nature related activities for kids on Saturday, while live musical performances will take place every hour on both days. Food trucks will be on site Saturday (Franchy’s) and Sunday (Paella Fusion) so patrons can grab a bite to eat.

Thanks to support from local businesses, this year’s silent auction will feature an array of items to bid on, including a $500 gift certificate from Art in Bloom, a one-night stay for two at the Hotel Ballast, a weeklong vacation at a private beach house, a bird bath from Stone Garden and more. A raffle will also be held with prizes of art donated by participating artists, gift cards to local restaurants and more.

“We’re very fortunate to have so many in our community who are committed to supporting local art as well as the Arboretum’s work,” Ranalli said. “We cannot wait to welcome everyone to the Arboretum for this event and hope you’ll join us.”
