Deadline approaching for artists to participate in Art in the Arboretum

NEW HANOVER COUNTY – Time is winding down for local artists to apply for a spot in the 27th annual Art in the Arboretum show and sale.

Interested artists in showcasing their wares must complete registration by August 31 by visiting New artists will need to submit two photos of their works to be judged before being allowed to participate. Acceptance notifications will go out on September 6, along with booth registration requests and booth payment instructions.

The 2022 event will start with the Sip, Savor & Shop launch party and preview sale for members of Friends of the Arboretum on Friday, September 30, with the public sale taking place October 1-2 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

This year’s show will return to its traditional early October date after being held in November the past few years. Artists will be able rent booths, either 10×5 or 8×8, under the eaves of two buildings on the grounds, or can rent space to erect their own 10×10 tents in various gardens on site.

Proceeds from art purchased during the event will be divided between the artist, the Friends of the Arboretum nonprofit organization, and the Wilmington Art Association.
